Getting here is part of the adventure! Whether you’re traveling from Jakarta, Yogyakarta, or Semarang, we’ve outlined the best options for you to reach Dieng comfortably.
By Private Vehicle
Traveling by car or motorbike offers flexibility and the chance to enjoy scenic routes.
From Jakarta (Approx. 8–10 hours / 460 km):
- – Take the Cipali Toll Road → Pejagan–Pemalang Toll → Exit at Weleri or Bawen.
- – Continue towards Wonosobo, then follow signs to Dieng Plateau (~26 km from Wonosobo).
From Yogyakarta (Approx. 4–5 hours / 170 km):
- – Route: Magelang → Temanggung → Wonosobo → Dieng.
- – Roads are winding after Wonosobo—drive carefully as the elevation climbs.
From Semarang (Approx. 4–5 hours / 150 km):
- – Route: Bawen → Ambarawa → Temanggung → Wonosobo → Dieng.

By Public Transportation
Exploring Central Java with public transport is budget-friendly and gives you a taste of local life.
Step 1: Reach Wonosobo
From Jakarta:
- – Take a night bus to Wonosobo from Kampung Rambutan or Pulo Gebang Bus Terminal (approx. 10–12 hours).
- – Alternatively, take a train to Purwokerto, then continue by minibus to Wonosobo (2–3 hours).
From Yogyakarta:
- – Take a bus from Giwangan Bus Terminal to Magelang, then transfer to a Wonosobo-bound minibus.
- – Or take a direct shuttle service to Wonosobo via travel agents.
From Semarang:
- – Buses to Wonosobo are available via Temanggung. Depart from Terboyo or Sukun Bus Terminal.
Step 2: Wonosobo to Dieng
